Fellow Spotlight: Mohamed Bangura
Mohamed Bangura is a dedicated and impact driven Fellow from Cohort 5 of Teach For Sierra Leone, committed to expanding access to quality education in underserved communities.

He began his fellowship at SLMWBO Primary School in the Makarie community, Bombali District, where his exceptional performance earned him first place recognition. He was later placed at Shelter of Hope Mission Academy in Mabanta, Makeni, where he continues to demonstrate strong leadership and commitment to student success.
Through his work, Mohamed has contributed to improving learning outcomes by using interactive and learner centered teaching methods that actively engage pupils in the learning process. He has also championed climate education and environmental awareness, helping pupils understand their role in building sustainable communities.
Beyond the classroom, Mohamed has supported students by providing learning materials and engaging parents to strengthen support for children’s education. He has used creative approaches such as advocacy songs and educational programs to raise awareness on key social issues affecting his community.

Through his Make a Child’s Day Bright Project, Mohamed contributed to the renovation of school facilities, creating a more conducive and supportive learning environment for pupils. In addition, he has collaborated with Smart Rising Kids to further strengthen initiatives aimed at empowering children and promoting community development.

Mohamed Bangura’s dedication reflects the mission of Teach For Sierra Leone, demonstrating how leadership, innovation and service can drive meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of children and communities.
